We’ll be focusing nex week’s Wed zoom (14th Oct) on Covid-19, and the impact particularly on the developing world. i’m enclosing here a couple of recent BBC references to Covid-19 the first is at https://www.bbc.com/news/business-54448589. This metions the just published World Bank 2020 Poverty & Shared Prosperity Report: Reversals of Fortune. This indicates that between 88-115 million more people this year globally are likely to fall back into ‘extreme poverty’ (ie surviving on under USD 1.90/day). This has put back global extreme poverty rates by about three years.
The second article is https://www.bbc.com/news/health-54442386. This is entitled ‘Health experts join global anti-lockdown movement’. It illustrates how complicated the agreed starategies are for combatting Covid-19. ;
