I’m presenting a (virtual) paper at the forthcoming Australian & New Zealand Disasater & Emergency Management Conference (ANZDMC). This is being held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, with the dates now rescheduled to the 2/3 September 2021.
The topic of my presentation is ‘ A new diagrammatic framework paradigm for explaining disasters‘. This will focus around the four key diagrams, namely Disaster Risk Management Cycle (DRMC), Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Planning, and Project Management Cycle (PMC). Commencing with a quick overview of the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS), I will then introduce the DRMC, DRR diagram, DRM Planning diagram, and the PMC. I will then apply the DRMC to the 2019/20 Australian bushfire, and a modified version of the DRMC to the current Covid-19 pandemic.
