Humanitarian Issues

TorqAid’s mission is to provide humanitarian advice and consultancy services, training, and resources.  These three components are separately covered in this website. Humanitarian issues include involvement in both natural disasters and complex emergencies, where the situation is complicated by conflict and a breakdown in governance.

Complex Emergencies

Module 5 of the TorqAid accredited Participatory Disaster Risk Management (PDRM) workshop and online program relates to Complex Humanitarian Emergencies (CHEs).  The main example we use is the Rohingya refugee crisis in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, but we also draw down on other scenarios such as those in Syria, Yemen and South Sudan.

Participatory Project Management

Module 4 of the TorqAid accredited Participatory Disaster Risk Management (PDRM) program relates to Participatory Project Management (PPM). This covers aspects such as the Project Management Cycle (PMC), the Project Design Document (PDD), and fantastically useful participatory tools such as the Ten Seed Technique (TST) and the Seasonal Calendar.  The Training Section of this website also indicates that there is a separate three day PPM workshop on offer.
